Ways meditation has improved my life
For clarity, I'm talking about mindfulness meditation. I have used some form of it since 1978, though there have been periods in there where I did not engage in it. All I can tell you is that my life runs better when I keep up at least 10 minutes a day, either sitting meditation (either "watching" the breath or shikan taza ("just sitting") or walking meditation.

1. Lowered stress.
2. Less obsessing about the past.
3. Less anxiety about the future.
4. Colors seem more vibrant.
5. Keeps depression at bay.
I struggle with depression, especially anhedonia. This is not a magic cure. I just notice that I have fewer down days when I keep up my meditation routine.
6. Greater patience.
7. Better emotional management.
8. Better chronic pain management.
I'm primarily thinking of arthritis here.
