What 10 (7) things do you want to be known for in 10 years?
I'm going to pivot on this a little. As opposed to being known for anything, which is an external validation, this list will capture how I hope to evolve on a couple of fronts. Not goals really, I 'm not much of goal setter but more like hopefully having an impact.
1. Still be happy at home
I'm lucky on this front.
2. See clients further through their retirements
My investment management practice is small and has low turnover which provides the opportunity to better understand clients' lives and see them through their retirement (financially speaking).
3. Help more people figure out their path to better health
For being a nobody, I've kind of helped a lot people learn about diet and exercise and be better off for it. It feels great to be able to help people in this way. I hope to continue to learn more and share that as best I can.
4. Help more people figure out their financial lives
Even with my now very small followership, there is no way I could take on every reader as a client who might want to hire me. I'm glad to share what I know, what I've learned and what I continue to learn.
5. Help people figure out their path to independence and happiness
"You can figure it out now or you can figure it out later but you'll be much happier if you can figure it now." ~ our friend Bill here in Walker.
I've been lucky to have figured a few things out, early on. I try to share this aspect of my life as best as I can.
6. Leave the fire department in a position to immediate succeed
I am not planning to still be chief of Walker Fire in ten years, although I hope to still be actively involved as a firefighter long past the next ten years. Hopefully when I do step down, my replacement will have an easy time stepping in and be able to take the department where they want it to go instead of fixing a bunch stuff first that they think I might have left behind.
7. Find new passions
Hopefully these lists give a sense of how much I immerse myself into things that interest me. I hope to add more to this list.
