What are your thoughts on universal basic income?

This could be 5 for and 5 against or any other format that you want. Now that AI is mainstream UBI seems to be up for discussion again: How will it get paid for? Who will benefit? Is it a good idea? How should it work?

1. It will get paid for by taxes

2. No one will benefit

3. UBI is a good idea because it takes care of people who are unemployable due to AI

4. The best way to implement UBI is to give everyone $1,000 a month and then tax that back at, say, 50%

So if you get $1,000 you pay $500 in taxes and have $500 left over
That's $500 a month for the rest of your life if you need it
And that's how we fund UBI

5. But there are many ways to do this and I'm sure there will be many experiments with various versions of UBI as AI becomes more mainstream
