What can I learn/know right now in 10 minutes that will be useful for the rest of my life?
I'm taking these ideas from notes I've took over the years.
1. Take notes
If you come across something useful, take a note of it. Favourite lists you like. We forget quickly. No need to memorise if you have notes. If you're struggling check your notes and your bound to find the help you need.
All ideas on this list will come from notes I've took.
2. Spelling
Spelling is something a lot of us struggle with. This is partly due to spelling with the building blocks of language, phonics instead of memorising words. phone could be spelt f-one. Bush could be b-oo-sh. The only way you know remember is by memorising the word as a whole and not as small brides combined into a word.
Phonics are great for reading, but should come second when writing. Memorise the word as a whole instead ..
3. Be Active
Inaction brings fear and doubt. Action breads confidence. When you feel like lying in bed all day and doing nothing, do something, you'll be glad you did.
4. Selling
Selling is about helping people.
When people pay they pay attention.
5. Negotiations
Make the pie bigger so everyone comes out feeling like a winner.
Negotiations
This trick works for anything from getting someone to clean the dishes to getting more money for your work.
Keep adding more to the pie until everyone is happy with there slice.
Offer them more I'll do the dishes, and ____ if you do ______. I'll do ______ and ______ as well as my current job for £_______. Just keep adding (on both sides) until both sides are happy with the deal.
When both sides are happy future deals are a lot easier to negotiate, if one side feels unfairly treated they'll tell of your unfair ways and you'll lose trust not just with them but their friends as well.
6. Feelings > Fact
People hold onto feelings much longer than facts. Make people associate you with feeling good.
Think of Trump people love/hate him regardless of the facts. They facts have disappeared, but their feelings persist and determine their thoughts/actions when Trump is mentioned.
7. KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid. If you can, simplify.
This will also improve your thinking.
8. Invert
Instead of looking for your next step, look at your end goal and work backwards.
Instead of aiming for perfection aim to avoid as many problems as possible.
9. Alcohol
Try and cut down how much you're drinking if you drink every night drink every other night. If you drink 20 drinks every time you're out cut it down to 15. And the next day reflect and ask yourself if you lost or gained anything by cutting down. You'll find that you can have an equily good time with a lot less and you'll save money.
I still drink, but this has helped me cut down a lot. You don't need much to enjoy your night.
10. Start Rubbish
Don't aim for perfection on your first go.
This goes for anything, but ill relate it to writing. hen writing a book start really rubbish. Aim for a page with a really rough outline. Then you can start fleshing out the outline. Keep at it till you end up with a badly written book. Rewrite it all until you have something good. Then rewrite until it's great.
Steps - Rubbish, very bad, bad, ok. not great, good, very good, great, awesome!
