I'm a little over a month in, but here are some patterns I have been noticing.

    Piano wasn't in my top 5, but it was close at #7.

    I moved into a new house with a piano. I can't not play it. But what I've done, instead of choosing to learn a new song and practice it for hours, I'll just sit down and play a few songs I already know. It's usually 15 minutes at the most, and it helps relax me and clear my mind.

    So I'm not ignoring piano, but I'm not practicing for hours a day like last year.

    Instead of competition, focus on collaboration.

    Collaborating with someone creatively is one of life's greatest joys.

    Even competition itself can be collaborative. If you play chess, you're competing against your opponent, but they're also collaborating with you. The only way to become a better player is by facing new forms of adversity. Together, you're collaborating on your development and understanding of the game.

    With the right mindset, every competition is an opportunity to collaborate. Speaking of...

    Competition is bad when it comes with a toxic mindset, which it often does.

    Competition leads to comparison, which leads to feelings of inadequacy, jealousy, or envy. It makes you see your fellow human beings as enemies. But they're not. They're people, just like you.

    Competition is a lie that leads to anxiety.
