    1. Some things you miss (paper maps) and some you don’t (less FOMO)

    2. Boredom has been solved

There was actually a time in history where the word "boredom " did not exist: when people had to be looking for berries to eat or something. Boredom really came about in the 19th century after industrialization. Now we have perpetual relief from boredom in the palms of our hands.

    3. Knowing things is no longer special when everyone can look it up

    4. “Pre internet parenting now feels like an act of gross negligence “

Lots of unsupervised time before the internet!

    5. You don’t have to search for things: everything is available all the time

I looked for a particular rare recording for 10 years. I went into dozens of record stores (those don't exist either!) looking for it. I finally found it on CD. Now I can listen to it on YouTube in about 5 seconds anywhere, anytime. The joy of searching will be lost.

    6. Now everyone has a mass audience

    7. Productivity is lost

According to the author. It is easy to get lost in a sea of email and Slack comments from work. I found that turning off notifications and checking emails just a few times in a day helps. I feel much more productive but you have to be conscious and vigilant and design your life around the technology not let the technology design your life. Delete time sucking apps when they no longer add to your experience.

    8. Before the internet if you traveled alone you needed to meet new people and do new things.

Now you are always connected to the same people and if you don't consciously explore then you will be limited.

    9. There used to be so much paper created and consumed in an office!

The copier is a theme in many movies and was the centerpiece of many offices.

    10. The end of patience

It is really not necessary, but like building an idea muscle you can consciously build a patience muscle. Creators need to master this to make books, music and sculptures.  Unless you tell AI to do it for you in 5 seconds.

    11. Being in the moment has gone away

I try to consciously do things like watch a baseball game without checking my phone but it can be a struggle. I do try to eat meals with the phone in another room. Now being in the moment is a special occasion!

    12. “Closure “ is lost

"But when past, present, and future all stir together in the ether, it's harder than ever to differentiate between what's over and done with and what constitutes the present tense. Gone is a healthy form of compartmentaliza-tion." "At the end of each day it feels as though we have lived through several days". Interesting!
