    1. Peaches filled with tuna

    2. Red cabbage with apples

    3. Sausage with apple sauce

    4. Vol-au-vent

I was never a fan of this one.

    5. Fries

I don't want to get into the whole "why do they call it French fries if they're from Belgium" thing.

It's common to just go get some fries somewhere and eat them outside, at home or even at a bar. Just fries with a condiment. Someone told me that they used to get fries every week as a family thing, which is funny because of how stereotypical it sounds. It was never a big thing in my family growing up.

    6. Cougnou

Supposedly also called "bread of Jesus" also I've never heard that.

    7. Stoemp

Pronounced "stoomp" (sort of). Just mashed potatoes with another mashed vegetable, really. Leek is common. Carrot, too. Usually eaten with sausage.

    8. Boulets à la liégeoise

    This one is gooooood.

    9. Carbonnade flamande

    THIS ONE TOO.

I'm starting to think Belgian cuisine is underrated.

    10. Américain

This is essentially steak tartare, but it's often prepared differently. In fact, at the butcher's, you can sometimes ask for "américain préparé" or "filet américain" as opposed to the regular one, which means it will already come with the herbs and all that, and often looks quite orange. This version can also be found in the Netherlands (they even sell a vegan version in the supermarkets, it's not bad).

The thing that they do in Belgium but not in France (as far as I'm aware) is putting it in sandwiches. Very common. So you're basically eating a sandwich filled with raw meat and raw egg. Sometimes they also add boiled eggs to it.
