10 Great Books Adults Will Love - Written for Kids

Though the book's on this list were written for the 11-17 year old market, they are some of the best stories I've read. Included are two series of four books each. Both are epic tales with great interpretive depth as to the human condition, far beyond the intrigue of the plot and characters. In addition to reading these yourself, you may enjoy them even more if you read them out loud together with your children, or listen to them in audio format which is my favorite.
