10 great places to visit in the Peak District, Derbyshire
1. Thornbridge Hall
This is our new favourite place. Just outside Ashford in the Water, it's a quirky stately home with amazing grounds, a lovely café, the best sausage rolls, animals, something for the kids. We did the house tour and it was the best one I've ever been on. A real behind the scenes visit.
2. Tideswell - Cathedral of the Peak
This is the large church in Tideswell with fantastic carvings.
3. Haddon Hall
This is a beautiful mediaeval hall. We love going at Christmas for the Mercatur and I always hope for a slightly misty day for the best photos.
4. Chatsworth
Home of the Devonshires, and Deborah Devonshire née Mitford was Duchess. A great day out, and legendary Christmas displays.
5. Carsington Water
For walks, boating and water sports.

10. Arbor Low
Our nearest stone circle. A great place. Attracts decent crowds for solstice. A walk through a cow field to reach the circle.
