10 Ideas for Cruise lines

First off, I have never taken a cruise! I just have never really been interested in doing it. That may change. I have talked to so many people in my life that have done it and the stories are mixed as far as if they had a good time, a great time or an awful time. I can't say that all the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive or even negative so I thought it would be a good subject to try to come up with some ideas for that industry. Since I have never been on one, I am certain that some of these ideas could exist so feel free to comment if any turn out to be fact.

    1. A Top Tier plan for enhanced service

    0
I suspect this exists (don't feel like doing the research right now) but for an additional and quite lofty cost, one could receive ridiculous, over the top service like a personal concierge that not only books food reservations and activities but you get to do activities that 98% of the guests don't. The concierge will even take you on a private trip on a small boat in and around the cruise ship, and take you around the different places you will visit during the trip. You will get to dine at one exclusive restaurant, once with the captain and a celebrity (if they're part of the cruise like entertainer/sports/actor etc).

    2. Top Shelf Alcohol Package

    0
Most likely exists in the space, but this could be a tier based program for those with specific tastes..some like wine, others like mixed drinks, maybe beer for others. So they could develop different packages customized for each group of liquor including a mix of all of them for some that like variety. Bottle service could also be a perk to the program.

    3. On Board Segway Rentals

    0
I have zero idea if this is a thing or not. The idea is that you can rent a Segway while on board for hours, days or your entire stay. When you mention a Segway to most people, they tend to think about the original, large version they started with, but today, they have a lot of different products including scooters, three wheel Segway's and more. What would be better would be a personal Segway driver that could take you where you want to go.

    4. A kid friendly shop and drop

    0
I know some families like to go on vacations together, but the adults like to have some private time too, so the cruise line could have a kid friendly place including a store that they can shop at with a spending limit already pre-determined. If the child attempts to go over the limit, they they will reach out to the parent or guardian to let them know. They can then have lunch and or dinner while the the adults do whatever they want. They can always check on their child through the app and see their child on the cameras and know their location as well through a wearable app. These activities could either be for a few hours, half days, full days but not for more than one.

    5. Clothing Rentals

    0
Packing sucks. Planning on what to wear can be a pain too. So, the cruise line could help you in a few ways. Depending on the occasion, activities and locations you will visit, they can customize clothing to match that. It would cost a lot less than purchasing the clothing and less for you to pack. It would also help with your return trip because you will most likely be bringing more back with you than you came with, and then your are struggling to pack or you end up having to ship some items back home where your things are at the mercy of the shipping and mail systems. The clothing would be based on the sizes you provide and you simply leave the clothing behind when you are done.

    6. Passenger based competitions

    0
Through an app, passengers can post scores on online games, gambling games and games found on board like shuffle board, mini golf, puzzles, beer pong, bingo, bowling etc.. This way, you get to play these games with whomever you're with, and people all on the ship that you haven't even met.

    7. I'm STUCK!!! Can't currently think of more, can you??

Oh, love #5 but maybe you have to give a lot of choices in advance of what clothing people might want.

Yes, there are many peripherals needed to make it feasible. I traveled for work for over 10 years and those were mainly plane trips mixed with some driving trips. I have not taken a cruise, but I have taken many vacations so I think this idea could work for many situations if executed by the right company.

More ideas: obviously some sort of sex/fetish sort of cruise. And then cruises for specific games (like a chess cruise or bridge cruise. I think poker cruises exist).

There are themed type cruises but not many. Probably the most famous is the band KISS, they have done an annual cruise for years and they plan one more during their final tour. Chris Jericho does a Rock/Wrestling cruise (one I considered by my wife isn't a fan of Rock or Wrestling) I have seen other music themed cruises also. However, the sex/fetish cruise I bet would make more money than any of those. The cruise could be sponsored by PornHub, Penthouse or something.

How about a VR cruise! You go on the cruise but whatever islands you pass you can put on your VR headset and "visit" the island without leaving the boat.

Hmmm, trying to imagine how this would look? I have to take out my cognitive bias because for me, if I am on a cruise, and we port, no way I am staying on the ship! But there is usually not enough time to see everything, and you do pass by plenty to see with VR and VR has taken off over the last few years too. Timing could be perfect for that with Covid restrictions being relaxed.

Politics cruise! You are sat at tables where half the people are alt-left and half are alt-right.

The Cruise of Liars and Truth-tellers. Half the people on the cruise lie about who they are and half tell the truth and at the end you ahve to fill out who you think is lying and who is telliing the truth.

Now that would be money! So much you could do with that. What about having a cruise where there are known "plants" on the cruise, and there are perks to those that find them? Like spending money, special events or prime seats and VIP treatment to the entertainment for the cruise?

Be able to reserve a deck chair. On many cruises there is mad pre-dawn rush to "claim" your deck chair(s) for the day. Once draped with a towel or T-shirt, they go off and spend the day enjoying the cruise. Some never even come back to use the space With a way to reserve a chair the cruise would have yet another small revenue stream and passengers can either pay a little for convenience and lack of stress or come on deck and take your chances. Use your feet, lose your seat.
