1. Have a "relationship check-up" once in a while
2. Ask them how you can support them better when they are unwell
3. Don't talk over them even if you really really want to
4. Don't say they ARE (flaw), say they DID (problem)
5. Assume you may be wrong
6. Understand their fears and anxieties behind their behavior
7. Look for what you may have done better in the context of a particular problem
8. Remind each other how much you care
9. If they get angry, don't get angry back
10. Give each other a bit of time to think if needed
