10 Observations at Sky Harbor Airport

I’m at the airport waiting for my flight to depart. Here are my 10 observations.

    1. More people seem to wear face masks at the airport than anywhere else these days.

    2. The least expensive bottled water is $2.99 for a 23.7 ounce container.

    3. Not having a coffee shop in an airport terminal, Starbucks or otherwise, is tantamount to being trapped in solitary confinement with no food.

    4. The people who are sitting by themselves people watching are the people in which I’m most interested. What are they thinking?

    5. If I’m traveling alone, as I am today, I often feel more alone amongst the thousands of would-be passengers streaming by me than anywhere else. Why is that?

    6. How can it be the year 2022 and this somewhat recently-remodeled terminal only has a total of eight…eight!…work stations where people can sit down with a laptop and plug in.

    7. I’m fearful every time I get on airport Wi-Fi that someone here is guaranteed to hack my phone/laptop. I have a VPN but it works poorly here.

    8. 8. For those people who don’t have TSA Pre-Check, why would you wear sandals/flip flops when you know you have to take your shoes off (and therefore walk barefoot on a disgusting floor)?

    9. It’s fascinating watching the airport crew prep a plane just before departure. It’s clearly an organized, efficient process.

    10. The economy/inflation can’t be so bad when there are such a huge number of people traveling and paying the exorbitant costs of flight tickets. Or they’re just paying for it with debt.
