10 Things I'm Addicted To
All of these addictions provide positive and negative results for me. Mostly positive, but by din of them being addictions, I find it *enormously* challenging to stop them, and therefore they have that aspect of being bad for me.
I can't decide if I should attempt to quit some or all of these addictions.
1. COFFEE.
The greatest addiction of all. Yet I went six hours this morning without it and the result was the most enormous headache I've ever had. So yep, I'm full-on addicted.
2. My smartphone.
I hate that I'm addicted to it. I lived the first 30 years of my life just fine without one. But now, I can't put the damn thing down for more than five minutes.
3. Freedom to work whenever I want.
At first blush, this sounds awesome, and yeah - it is! But sometimes I get caught in the trap of all my free time and in turn I don't put in more work to earn money when I need to.
4. Freedom to work too hard.
On the flip side, when I do start working, I'm like a raging bull rushing toward a red cape that always seems just out of reach. I won't stop until near exhaustion.
5. Amazon.
I would love to be the sort of person who only frequents small businesses, but using Amazon for some purchases is just too darn easy and convenient.
6. Running.
I'm so addicted to running that I keep running even when I'm injured which - surprise! - makes me more injured.
7. The Chicago Bears.
I was a kid when they won the Super Bowl in 1986, a team with remarkably fun and fascinating characters, so I've been a fan ever since. The problem? They've pretty much stunk it up most years since then. And here I am, still a fan. Sigh.
8. Arizona.
I've hatched all sorts of plans to move to many interesting places, yet I have a hard time leaving the wonderful state of Arizona where I've lived for over 20 years. It's pretty awesome here.
9. Routinizing my life.
I find it difficult to get through any day without a structure in place, even on those days when there's little to do. That's fine for optimizing productivity, but I don't want to be productive all the time.
10. Perfect Bars.
Have you ever tasted one of those things? They're like tiny bits of heaven in a wrapper.
