"It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do."

1. What if you hire smart people who don't like telling people what to do... and they'd rather have other people telling them what to do?
2. What if they're smart in some areas, but not in others... yet they mistakenly believe they're smart in every area?
3. What if they're book smart but not street smart?
4. What if they're street smart but not book smart?
5. What if you hire smart people, but you are personally one of the world's greatest geniuses with one of the highest IQ's in the world, and you are smarter than almost any smart person you could possibly hire?
6. What if the people you hire are smart with the details, but not so smart with the big picture?
7. What if they're smart, but they operate best when other people tell them what to do?
8. What if they're smart, but the reason they want to work for you is because they consider you smarter and they want to learn from your sage advice?
9. What if they have problems switching modes between being smart and telling others what to do... and they can't do both simultaneously? They can either be smart, or tell others what to do, but they can't do both at the same time.
10. What if they're smart, and they're telling you what to do... but what they always tell you to do is intelligently geared towards giving themselves the best personal outcomes, not the best outcomes for your company?
11. (BONUS) What if they tell you to get out of the company because they would make a better CEO than you?
