    1. The landscape is remarkably diverse.

Everyone thinks of the Sonoran Desert, which is a huge part of the state; however, it's also home to some of the tallest mountains outside of the Rockies, as well as the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the world.

    2. There is a difference of over 12,000 feet of elevation between the lowest and highest points of Arizona.

Again, this bucks the typical perception of the state being merely a low, flat desert.

The lowest point is the Colorado River as it runs near Yuma at the Mexican border, which sits about 70 feet above sea level.

The highest point is Humphreys Peak, just north of Flagstaff. It stands at 12,637 feet.

    3. Arizona State University.

ASU is the largest campus by attendee (and possibly by size) in the United States. It has a reputation as a party school, so come hang out if you're into that. It's also a well-known research institute, including leading the way in climate change studies.

It's also home to a lot of beautiful people, so if you like people watching then this is your place! Sometimes it's cool just to go on campus to go for a walk or hang out at a coffee shop.

    Speaking of which...

    4. The abundance of amazing local coffee shops and roasters across the state.

Seriously, if you love rich, dark roast coffee, it's roasted everywhere in Arizona. Cartel, Firecreek, Lola, Macy's, and Bisbee top a long list of amazing sources for great joe.

    5. The rich Wild West history.

From the Tombstone fight to Prescott Whiskey Row, to the old mining community of Jerome, and many places in-between, there is no lack of places to go back in time to the late 1800s and experience the wild frontier.

    6. Endless hiking trails.

Seriously. The beauty is just awesome.

    7. The Superstition Wilderness.

Supposedly home to the famed Lost Dutchman fortune, the real fortune in the Superstitions is the unmatched panoramic views combined with the feeling that you're lost in a beautiful, rugged wilderness.

    8. The Mogollon Rim.

When driving north from Phoenix, this 1,000-foot escarpment can't be missed. It runs for hundreds of miles across the middle of Arizona into New Mexico. It's like nature built an enormous wall of rock right in the middle of the state.

    9. Sedona.

If you've never heard of Sedona, do a Google image search for it now. The images will speak for themselves.

    10. The Grand Canyon!

Of course, the granddaddy! The Grand Canyon is a mix of unbelievable natural beauty, bizarre man-made mysteries, and of course adventures that create lifelong memories.
