12 ways to learn a language

    1. Create silly stories

    2. Bidirectional translation

    Luca Lampariello's method. I haven't tried it.

    3. Speak from day one

Benny Lewis' number one rule. Some people disagree with it and favor input first.

    4. Read as much as possible

This would be Steve Kaufmann's number one rule.

    5. Listen to a lot of podcasts and audiobooks

    6. Listen to music and read the lyrics

    7. Watch videos with a Chrome extension such as Language Reactor

You get subtitles allowing you to click on unfamiliar words and mark them as "learning" or "learned" and they get compiled into a list. You can also use bilingual subtitles.

    8. Get a language exchange partner

    9. Take several classes per week

I've been using Preply to book online lessons in addition to taking group classes with an amazing TPRS teacher. I'm considering signing up for Babbel's unlimited group classes.

    10. Live in a country where people speak your target language

I don't think it's absolutely necessary, and it won't automatically help you. But if you take advantage of it, it can be great. I've been living in Spain for half a year (damn, already!!) and I haven't taken advantage of it enough yet, but even having short interactions here and there (and sometimes using a translator to prepare myself) has been helpful. The next step is to hang out with Spanish speakers who don't mind me struggling to understand most of what they say and having trouble expressing myself.

Doing more group activities would be good too!

    11. AI

There are many ways to use ChatGPT for language learning. I haven't explored this very much yet, but it's clear that it can be tremendously helpful. Bing and Bard are apparently good for this too. Bing has an AI voice but only on desktop (last time I checked).

Is there an AI app with a voice function? This would be ideal so I can use it anytime while walking around.

    12. Dating someone who speaks your target language
