Adolescent kids can be angry -- it's part of their individuation process. They don't need deflection. They can use a kind, open ear that hears their struggle.

It's scary to step out into the world. My kids can use someone who believes in them. Not a cheerleader but someone who sees their strengths and challenges and believes they can do it, even when they can't see it themselves.
