4 Ways to Pass Time During NFL Commercials
I'm currently watching the NFL live with my dad. I'm not a big sports guy, and I never watch live TV. This is a unique occasion.
I'm blown away by the amount of commercials. It's terrible. I can't just sit here. I need to do something.
1. Stretch
I've never regretted stretching. Everything about my body feels better. It wakes up my nervous system and I feel more alive.
There are approximately 97,000 commercials every NFL game. This gives me plenty of time to make my body feel good.
2. Movement
There's an exercise bike in the family room of the basement. Even a few minutes of movement is better than none. I could also do jumping jacks or push-ups.
Anything is better sitting there like a slug watching mediocre ads for garbage I don't want to buy.
3. Chess or Backgammon
Both on my phone. Both games can be paused when the commercial is over.
I want to engage my mind rather than passively imbibe hundreds of beer commercials.
4. Meditate
Seriously. How long is the average commercial break? Three to four minutes?
When the commercials kick in, I can press mute, set a timer, and just close my eyes. Breathe. Recognize the intrinsic beauty of being alive in this moment.
