5 Ways I am Exploring To Build Storytelling Muscles
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." - Maya Angelou
- Our conscious minds absorb data during the day. As we sleep, our subconscious minds process and make sense of the data.
- The advice to “sleep on it” is responsible for several artistic and scientific breakthroughs.
- Paul McCartney came up with Yesterday in a dream.
- Mary Shelley created Frankenstein in a dream.
- Albert Einstein developed the theory of relativity, Dmitri Mendeleev saw the periodic table, and Renée Descartes realized the framework for the scientific method – all in dreams.
- Jack Nicklaus changed his golf swing in a dream.
- Elias Howes invented the sewing machine partly because of a dream."
1. Log Dreams
"Dreams are messages from the deep." - Dune

2. Reflections
Reflect on the previous day, the learnings, the mistakes, and the key story. Say I had a client meeting. Describe the meeting room, the questions asked, who set where etc.
3. Log Events
Simply log events from the day: What book have I read. Who are the characters, and what was the plot. There is always a plot, even in technical books.
4. Ideas from idea lists into stories
I remember James mentioned that he had a story for each idea. I want to see if I can do that on my idea list or ideas from the community. There were ideas about how to make money from TikTok. Maybe I will check a TikTok influencer and write a story that features the influencer.
5. A What-If Story
A What-If story in which we are the main character. What if I can read 10X faster today. How will I help others? Think Phenomenon, the movie, when George, the character played by John Travolta, read a dictionary in 20 min to learn to speak Portuguese to help someone in need who could not speak English.
