6 Reasons to keep up my side hustle

I've been translating documents from French to English for my friend's husband's company for a few years now. When I was getting started, this side job provided me with pocket money and really increased my quality of life. Now, it's more of a chore than anything else. I hope this list will encourage me to keep up the side hustle. Or, maybe I'll end up convinced I should quit. Either way-- sounds like a good opportunity for me to get some clarity.

    1. To have extra money

Not a lot, but it's still something.

    2. To have money in a different currency

I'm American and I work in the U.S., so all my money is in dollars. It's nice to have some EUR as well. Makes traveling easier.

    3. To keep up my French

I don't have nearly as many occasions to practice my French as I'd like. Translation work keeps my language skills alive.

    4. To offset the cost of my French bank account

I have to pay 2 EUR per month to keep my bank account open in France. I need some income to offset that price, or my savings will just dwindle to nothing.

    5. As a backup plan in case I lose my job

I don't think this side hustle is lucrative enough to keep me going for very long, but it still provides some security.

    6. It's not worsening my life

In addition to all the good reasons listed here, I can't think of any reasons to make the effort to quit. This job isn't especially time-consuming or boring, and I don't hate it. Maybe I'm too apathetic to quit.
