Alternative forms of meditation

This a riff on @randomroger's good list of alternative forms of meditation. Unlike Roger, I do meditate every day in the "traditional" sense (sort of) and I do glean benefit from it, but it's the sort of "10% happier" benefit espoused by Dan Harris. It doesn't radically make my life better, but it feels pretty good and I like the ritual of doing it every day.

That said, here are some forms of meditation I experience that serve as good alternatives.

    1. Going on a long run.

    2. Taking a long walk.

    3. Being engrossed with reading excellent writing.

    4. Writing (sometimes).

    5. Hiking alone on a mountain.

    6. Doing something physically challenging that requires all my focus.

    7. Coding (I'm terrible but when I want something done I get into it).

    8. Listening to Miles Davis.

    9. Absorbing art in a museum.

    10. Taking a long road trip alone in a beautiful place.
