Benefits of 3-2-1 Journaling

    1. It takes about 2 minutes a day

    2. 3 things you are grateful for

    3. 2 things you learned

    4. 1 goal for the next day

    5. It gets you writing by hand

    I realized that it is usually the only thing that I handwrite all day. Good not to lose a skill like this.

    6. Re-reading the journal periodically reminds you of wins

    7. In therapy years ago I was encouraged to write about things that bothered me

    This was probably well-intentioned but it kept me stuck and ruminating on unpleasant things

    8. when I do this sometimes I can "feel" my brain rewiring for gratitude

    9. it is important to push for the 3-2-1 in order. To get to the "goal" you have already reviewed 3 things you are grateful for and 2 things you learned so you are primed for the goal.

    10. After 1 year of doing this you will have written over 1000 things you are grateful for, 730 things you learned and 365 goals

    At least one percent of these are likely to change your life trajectory in a positive way.
