Boost Your Productivity: 10+ Go-To Tools for Getting Stuff Done in 2024
I actively utilize these tools, so this isn't just a brainless listicle. I wouldn't share any tool that I don't practically use. This isn't an exhaustive list; I've simply highlighted the ones I use most often and find most valuable.
- Advanced Paste: It has a neat AI feature (requires an OpenAI API key) but I can apply context sensitive AI command in Windows (something not possible with Sider extension). It also use it to paste copied text as "paste as text" which I have tied to hotkey.
- Capture Text from an Image: OCR text from an image by a screen shot
- PowerToys Run: A handy help bar that can use to run application, do calculations and search for files.
- Whisper transcription of your audio (don't need to pay for expensive transcription services - speed for processing audio may vary given your system setup)
- Isolate music and vocal tracs
- Generate music (using Meta Music Gen Model)
- Background Noise Suppression
1. Sider ChatGPT Chrome extension
The Sider ChatGPT extension integrates seamlessly with your browser, providing instant access to ChatGPT's capabilities while you browse. Whether you need quick answers, text generation, or language assistance, this tool ensures that AI support is just a click away, streamlining your workflow and enhancing productivity.
A very underrated tool. I frequently rely on this tool while browsing the web.
I can summarize any page, such as an article, in a series of bullet points.
The real power is the context-specific requests. I can highlight text and apply contextual AI commands to it.
If I'm unsure about something, I'll highlight the text and have it explained to me in simple terms or provide a series of counterarguments. I can also analyze the readability of the text. The possibilities are endless.
When I'm writing, I can have my grammar and spelling checked and corrected. I can even rewrite my text in a different tone.
Additionally, it has a helper application where I can ask any question and receive responses from various LLMs, including ChatGPT, Claud, Llama, and Gemini.
It also has a helper application YouTube. Which will summarize the bullet points using the transcript. You can also send entire transcript to ChatGPT for summarization.
I can't recommend this extension enough.
2. Summarify (iPhone)
When surfing YouTube videos, I don't have access to the Sider helper. I want to quickly summarize YouTube transcript to see if it's worth my time to watch the videos in full.

Its my general purpose tool for handling cognitive tasks and textual analysis.

Too many to name.

BeefText is a text snippet manager that allows you to create shortcuts for frequently used text. This tool saves time by enabling you to insert common phrases, email signatures, or code snippets with just a few keystrokes, reducing repetitive typing and increasing typing efficiency.
Very handy if I am filling out forms for example I tied in the short "!firstname" to my first name Sheeraz. Or I use to put commonly used snippet I use in ChatGPT like "Please proofread for spelling, grammar, and readability"
I wrote an article on this tool:

I use it to read articles on the internet, PDFs, and it has the ability to connect to Kindle and read your books without having to use Kindle's speech-to-text application. It supports reading in a variety of formats: docx, epub, pdf, xlsx, text.
The voiceovers are quite eclectic; you have regular narrations, but you also have notable figures like Snoop Dogg, President Obama, Mr. Beast, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
7. Ollama + AnythingLLM
Let's you run LLM (Chatbots like ChatGPT) locally on your computer. If are working on sensitive or personal information then this might be good option. Ollama has support for many open source models like Meta's Llama 3, Mistral, Microsoft Phi and many others.
AnythingLLM is front end for the local LLM (such LLama3 model) however you are not limited to local model you can also query external LLMs with an appropriate API key.
8. Lightkey IO
Lightkey IO is a predictive typing and text completion software that integrates with various applications. It uses AI to predict and complete your sentences as you type, reducing typing effort and errors, and helping you write faster and more accurately.
