Catnap Books purchases
As I said yesterday, I was headed today to Catnap Books (url in yesterday's list). Always great bargains there. I only got a handful of books, and my SO got a few books for her "Grandma's library." The proprietor gave us a 20% discount and gave me a box full of Gaiam Qigong instructional DVDs after seeing what I purchased. What a haul!
1. The Way of Qigong by Kenneth Cohen
This is a very comprehensive volume starting from Qigong basics to lifestyle. Looks very accessible, with plenty of pictures showing the forms.
2. Qigong and the Tai Chi Axis by Mimi Kuo-Deemer
This is an introduction to both Qigong and the Yin/Yang balance of Tai Chi. Photos, pictures, outlines for the forms. A great introduction.
3. Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Tarot Journey to Self-Awareness by Rachel Pollack
A fully comprehensive introduction to Tarot cards, starting with the historical origin in the 15th century. Very nice, long explanation and interpretation of each card; types of readings; how to use readings; and finishing with what we learn from readings.
4. Perfect Tarot Divination by Robert Wang
More extreme than #3 above. Applies Jungian principles to Tarot interpretation. Supposedly, the complex, tradition-based method produces readings of great detail and of remarkable accuracy. My interest is not in prediction, it is in reflection about the current day and circumstances.
5. The Book of Thoth (Egyptian Tarot) by Aleister Crowley
The Thoth Tarot codifies a wealth of wisdom in 78 cards; it contains symbolism from a number of different traditions and Aleister Crowley is considered one of the foremost authorities on the subject.
