Today at High Noon let's shed some light on what that really means. Jesus constantly highlights the ego's nature. Why? Because to expose our shadows, we must first know what we're dealing with. ACIM stands out from other spiritual systems by its deep dive into the ego's dark, twisted thought system of specialness and ugliness, which we've somehow adopted as our reality and identity. But here's an aside: understanding the light to which we bring our darkness is just as crucial.

Picture this: You're lost in a dense forest, the kind where the trees—representing the ego's darkness—block out all light. The more you focus on the twisted, gnarly trees, the more you lose sight of the radiant forest (the Holy Spirit). This is what happens when the ego takes over, engulfing us in hatred, guilt, and fear, making us forget the greater journey we're on.

ACIM reminds us that love is our guide and goal. There's a powerful passage in the workbook: "Our love awaits us as we go to Him. He fails in nothing. He's the End we seek and He's the Means by which we come to Him." This love of God isn't just our destination; it's the very essence of our right-minded identity in this world. We're called not to remember ourselves as Christ but to reflect that memory in our everyday relationships. This is Christ's vision — seeing the same divine light in everyone.

Yet, when we're mired in the ego's thought system, it's like being blinded by the towering trees. We lose sight of the forest—the bigger picture—and forget the journey's end. The Course asks us to see the face of Christ in our brothers, to see the light in them instead of the darkness. But the ego's massive, terrifying thought system makes us focus on the decaying trees, drowning out the beauty of the forest.

We need to walk through the darkness with love as our companion. Jesus says in Chapter 18 that to walk through the circle of fear, we must know that love goes with us. Love is not just the destination but the way to get there. We're not just children of darkness; we're children of light. And remembering this is crucial.

Jesus constantly shows us both sides: the ego's darkness and our true light. Our journey home to the light requires facing the darkness, but we mustn't forget that it's the light at the tunnel's end that guides us through. The ego's fear, guilt, and hatred are immense, but the love that fuels us is what makes our journey possible.
