Five Essential Ingredients For Creating a Kids Story

Preview
1. Clear roles
Most basic example: There has to be a good guy and a bad guy.
2. Goal or mission
We have to know what the good guy is trying to do.
3. Relatability
The child has to be able to relate to the story on a personal level. It might be a character. It might be a single struggle.
4. Length
You have to write to your audience's attention span. If you are trying to tell a much longer story, make sure each chapter is a mini tale unto itself as well as tying into the overall story.
5. Pace
The story has to move along. There doesn't have to be action in every sentence. But something should happen in every paragraph.
