Follow Up - "What led you to start using AI when other people have not yet used it at all?"

@Zumbadorr asked for a progress report... good idea and a good list.

    1. Did it make my life easier?

For writing, yes. I use ChatGPT often to help get me past mental blocks, and to give alternative thoughts. I am thiscloseto finishing a book I've had "in the works" for many years, and AI helped jumpstart that.

    2. Like to know about things - curious

The water out of the fire house analogy here. So much out there to try, but almost all are monetized for the useful parts. I look, but don't buy (yet).

    3. To see how to make my job easier

I've set up a few small chatbots for work, but haven't yet convinced the boss to roll them out. Our employees aren't very tech savvy, so I don't see it happening any time soon.

    4. Like to be ahead of the curve

In the circles I "run" - mostly very much "yes." From what I see online, probably not so much so. That's OK. I do think there will be a lot of "sorting out" of what's out there until it gets to the point where the main apps meet up with the needs / abilities of the users.

    5. For Fun

The photo AI is lots of fun. And, I've managed to salvage a few old family photos with them, quickly and at no cost. Probably spend too much time and sign up for too many apps.

    6. To help others in my age group (60+) understand it

Haven't done much on this, but should be on my "to do" list.

    7. Can it really make me some money?

I do read up and watch up on this. Have a couple small things in the works.

    8. In Summary

Is AI life changing for me? Not yet. I'm still looking at it as a tool, but haven't gotten the right combination of tools to change my life. Doesn't mean I won't stop trying...
