From the TED Talk by the Writers of “Humor, Seriously”
The full title is Humor, Seriously: Why great leaders take humor seriously
Preview
1. Laughter releases endorphins, lowers your stress, increases calmness, and releases dopamine
So it’s like “exercising, meditating, and having sex all at the same time...But logistically easier”
2. “Start with what’s true”
The authors say it’s easier when starting out to focus on something that’s true in the situation instead of focusing on trying to be funny.
3. Start with a small change
For example, the two authors say, try changing your email sign offs from the usual ”Best, __”:
”When you’ve been up all night—‘Yours heavily caffeinated, __”
”When your talking about financial accounting—‘Let’s never speak of this again, __’
”And on rare occasion, ’I’m the best, __”
