Getting started on a low carb diet

At the start of each fire dept training, I talk for a couple of minutes about diet or exercise. Yest I talked about how I was able to keep under 100 carb/day on vacation. At home I'm about 60/day. I got questions and this is what I said.

Eat between 11ish-7-ish Make that first meal any combo of meat, eggs, fish and cheese. That's it. No fruit, no oatmeal, nothing but those four and black coffee. Then I'll have a Quest Bar and maybe a Two Good Yogurt. It's 2pm and you'd only be at 4 or 7 carbs for the day so far.

That makes getting under 100/day much easier. Getting down to 100 was life changing for me, lost 20 pounds and reversed pre-diabetes immediately. Once you figure a routine at 100/day, you'll want for nothing junk food wise, you'll find 100/day is actually a lot.

At dinner you really need to avoid pasta and tortillas, they are sky high in cabs and will get you over 100 just by themselves. There are low carb substitutes for both. Haven't found a good one for pasta but plenty of good subs for tortillas.

I love ice cream. There's plenty of low carb substitutes for ice cream
