How Do I Find Time for Things Other than my Day Job?
1. The 30-Minute Rule
If it'll take 30 minutes or less to do, do it now!
2. Time Blocking
Dedicate certain hours of the day/week to specific activities.
3. The Pomodoro Technique
Work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. Repeat.
4. Wake Up Early
Get a head start on the day by waking up even just 30 minutes earlier than usual.
5. Make a Schedule
Write out what you need/want to accomplish each day/week, and make time for it in your schedule.
6. Wake up an hour earlier
Dedicate that extra hour to doing something for yourself, whether it's working on a hobby, going for a run, or reading a book.
7. Take a break during the day
Even if it's just 15 minutes, step away from your desk and do something to rejuvenate yourself. Take a walk outside, meditate, or listen to some calming music.
8. Do one thing at a time:
Multitasking might feel productive, but it actually makes us less efficient. If you can focus on one task at hand, you'll get it done faster and feel less stressed in the process.
9. Make time for things you enjoy:
Schedule in fun activities like seeing friends or taking part in hobbies. When we make time for things we enjoy, we're more productive overall.
10. Set boundaries with work:
Let your boss know what your availability is outside of work hours and stick to it. This will help you have a healthier work-life balance.
