How do you find your passion? How do you know if that's your passion?
Don't look for your passion, don't put that sort of pressure on yourself. I'd reframe the entire idea as follows:
1. Stay curious
A key part of successful aging is learning new things. A passion of mine is volunteer firefighting. I never thought about being a firefighter but moved to a community served by a VFD so I tried it. It quickly became a huge part of my life, a passion. If it turned out to be something I wasn't passionate about then maybe I'd have a much lesser sense of engagement.2. Don't say no
I do my best to make time for new things. I may not stick with something new, but I'm eager to try. One passion of mine is photography. Mostly fire related, vehicle related and scenery like national parks. I love taking the pictures, then going through and seeing which ones I like and then manipulating them a little. I started a little business trying to sell some pictures and while I did sell a few, I discovered the passion was taking and manipulating the pictures not spending time trying to sell them.3. 30 is not 50 is not 70
We evolve as people and find new things. There's a good chance that you'll be a much different person at 50 than you were at 30 and that's ok. You will evolve and so will your interests. Some of those interests will become passions and some will not.
