How to one up your life (part 2)
Working on creating a year long Instagram project. Here's some more advice that I'll be sharing over the year.
1. Make the world a better place
We get upset when we look around and see things remaining steady or getting worse. Start looking for ways to make the world a little bit better. It doesn't need to be a big change. Your 1 out of 7 billion people. So aim to make the world a 7 billionth bit better each day. Make amends with someone, clean, help someone. When we see the world getting a bit better each day, we regain hope and hope will get us through, even the toughest of times.2. Reflect on death (you)
You're going to die. One day all that will be left is the memories of you in the hearts of those who knew you. Do you care how they remember you? Of course you do. Aim to leave them with happy memories. Start now as you never know how long you've got.3. Reflect on death (others)
Everyone dies and it could happen at any time. Would you be at peace with how you acted if a loved one was to die now? Aim to leave all situations happy. Even if you disagree on something, find something you agree on before you part.4. Goals are for losers
What happens after you reach a goal? You feel great, then empty. You've lost what gave your life meaning. Instead of goals, develop systems. Small things that if done daily will help you reach and surpass your goal. Eg. Goal might be to lose a certain weight. A system would be to eat healthy and exercise. You'll reach your goal and as a result of carrying on you'll maintain a healthy weight. What goals can you convert into systems?5. Take pride in your job
Your job takes up a good chuck of your time. It should be meaningful at the very least. What you do is meaningful enough for someone to pay for. Who else benifits from what you do? Customers? How does what you do help them with what they do? Try and think of as many people as possible that you're job benifits. During tough days reflect on that. What you do matters.6. Do good
We don't have an angle and devil on our shoulders guiding us, but we do know right from wrong. You don't have power over the results, but if you do good you can always be proud of what you did have control over, your actions. How can you do good today?7. Nothing done well is insignificant
How often have someone been upset with you 'for not doing enough'? How did that make you feel? Appreciate the small things and encourage people to do more, rather than belittling them for not being good enough. Be proud of yourself when you do well, no matter how much you do.8. Write a book
Take lots of notes. Notes from books you're reading, podcasts, videos, life lessons. Compile as much knowledge as you can. Then enhance your notes. Combine similar notes, rewrite them so they flow well together and write a book. Publish to amazon, sell and make some extra money on the side. You'll feel great, knowing that you have your own published book, you'll impress others and since you have a note taking system, you'll always have share worthy content. (blogs, videos, podcasts ect).9. The future is unwritten
The future isn't set in stone. There's always time to make sure it's better than your current life. Never let the thought of a hopeless future guide you. It doesn't exist, yet, until your inactions make it so. Act and create your perfect future.10. You come first
Your of little to no use when sick, never mind dead. When you forget to take care of yourself, your slowly becoming a burden to others. Planes reminded us of this every flight. Put on your air mask first, before helping others. Your of much more use when your taken care of.
