How to shrink an ever-growing to-do list.
I have things on my to do list that have been there for years. Here is what I’ve been doing about it.

1. Take small steps toward accomplishing a task
The momentum will move you in the right direction. I wanted to clean my carpet. So I watched a few videos on carpet cleaning. Then I bought some of the tools I needed to clean the carpet professionally - a cleaner power sprayer and a carpet rake. The small steps may seem like nothing, but the pressure they put on your subconscious is a big deal. You are creating momentum.
2. Put some money on the line
To clean my carpet, I bought some tools and I rented the carpet cleaner.
3. Put a time limitation on the to do
It is difficult to get your carpet to dry when the temperature in your hours is less than 75 degrees. I knew that the temperature was about to drop - it’s Fall. So I planned to do it on the last weekend of warmth.
4. Make it impossible to ignore.
I did a similar set of steps to replace the carpet in my office with Flor Tiles. I ordered samples, I measured the room, I bought the tiles and they are sitting in my foyer. I can’t get out of my house without noticing the boxes. I will be installing the tiles this weekend.
5. Think about how your life will be better once you get the to do done.
6. Promise yourself a Reward and then reward yourself when you’ve accomplished the task.
The reward for cleaning my carpet was the obvious improvement in the room. It made me feel better every time I entered the room.
