How to stay positive in the face of all the negative news
News media is set up to report negative events as we are programmed to be aware of possible dangers. We can now see, in real-time, all the negative things happening all over the world. Our psyche is not designed to handle so much negative information. What can we do to give our brains a better balance of information?

1. Celibate the miracle of life
Every time you see a young child ask yourself "I wonder what s/he will achieve in their life".
2. Stop and smell the roses
Be aware of the scents and sounds around you and stop to fully take them in.
3. Take responsibility for something
Make the world a better place in some small way.
4. Stop listening to news
Catching up with world events once a week is more than enough to keep abreast of world events.
5. Look for the silver lining
Reframe events in terms of what good could possibly come from events.
6. Perform random acts of kindness
Make someone else's life a little better.
7. Create something
In a world where most things are built with planned obsolesce in mind, make something with your hands that will last. Even if it's a simple artwork. Put it somewhere visible and every time you see it say to yourself "I made that".
8. Speak positively to others
Encourage and support others through positive affirmations.
9. Watch stand up comedy
Learn to laugh at life
10. Read about history
Appreciate the fact that despite all the bad things that have happened in the past we are still here and thriving.
