I Drink a Homemade Green Smoothie 6 Days Per Week. Here's My Recipe.
A few years ago, my diet was severely lacking in nutrients.
I wasn't even eating that poorly, but I knew something was off.
In hindsight, I needed to up my fruit and veggie servings from 2-3 per day to 4-7.
My solution?
Drinking a homemade green smoothie 6 days a week.
I’m not claiming a green smoothie is a magic bullet for your health. You’ll still need to get the rest of your diet and lifestyle in order. But starting your day with one will put you way ahead of the game, nutrition wise.

1. Liquid base (spinach + coconut water)
Then, I add...
2. 1.5 scoops of greens powder
3. 1.5 scoops of whey protein powder
4. Some ground cinnamon
5. A couple tablespoons of psyllium fiber
6. Half of a frozen banana
7. A cup of frozen mixed berries
8. A half cup of old fashioned oats
9. A few ice cubes
10. Water
Then, I blend again until smooth.
I estimate one serving of my smoothie is about 200 calories (38g carbs, 1g fat, 15g protein, 7g fiber) and it contains a boatload of vitamins and minerals.
I prepare my smoothie in a large blender, so it makes about three 12 oz. servings.
I'll drink one serving right away and store the other two in travel mugs for the next couple of days.
I make the smoothie twice a week for a total of six servings and give myself an off day (usually one of the weekend days).
