I started practicing Russian on busuu.com regularly

About five days ago. We'll see where that will lead. My current goal is getting to A2.

On one hand, learning a challenging language is good brain training. On the other hand, I would like to travel to this huge country full of strange people and visit Petersburg, for example.

I'm in Russia right now! Will start learning soon (I guess I'm learning a little already), I was learning for a few months last year but then stopped, thinking I would learn Italian and then I didn't do either 😃 I'd love to know more about your experience with Busuu. I quite liked LingQ for Russian, and Speakly as well.

Hi Mathieu,
I checked out LingQ too. And to be honest: I didn't like the interface, though I am a fan of Steve Kaufmann. Busuu is very okay. Like a slightly improved version of DuoLingo, with a better community aspect. And relatively cheap. What is it like being in Russia now (during the war)? And what are you doing there? I'd love to hear more about that.

I agree about the interface! I'll try Busuu and see if I like it.
I was sick my whole time in Moscow so I couldn't explore much except for the red square and the Christmas market (which was very impressive). Now I'm in Samara at my girlfriend's family's, starting to explore a bit. It doesn't feel weird so far (I mean it feels weird to be in Russia but I don't feel a weird "there is a war" vibe). But yeah I'll happily tell you more later! I'm here until the 9th.

Get well soon and enjoy your stay! All those big platforms are probably in the same ballpark. Busuu is relatively cheap and I liked it better than Babbel and that new interface of Lingq. Sooner or later I'll travel to Russia myself. :)
