Ideas for how to get up early

    1. Reframe getting up early as something to look forward to. Not something you dread or a punishment. I can’t wait for this time as it’s so valuable to me.

    2. Go to bed by 10. This is super hard but requires discipline. Honestly, there’s no Netflix show or Instagram scrolling that should be more important than getting to bed at 10

    3. Tell others you get up early to build in social pressure.

    4. Be consistent on weekends. It’s tough to stop a habit on weekends and pick it up again on Monday

    5. Start the day with a breathing exercise like Wim Hof or the Othership app to get primed

    6. Schedule a workout 1 hour after you wake up. I get up at 5 for my morning routine and do a live Peloton class at 6 am

    7. Take a daily nap in case getting up early makes you tired in the afternoon

    8. Don’t hit snooze or, if possible, even have it as an option on your phone

I have lived by #8 for a long time. I wasn't a chronic snooze button pusher, but I did it a few times a week many years ago, and never was it helpful. It makes the day tougher, and you feel more tired actually, at least that was my experience with it. I never use it no matter how I feel when I wake up.

Jocko woke up at 4 if I am not mistaken! I have to try working out first thing! I usually work out right before I have to work.

Waking up early is a difficult chore to do! I really need this list in my life. It is funny that I always snooze the alarm and that's one thing I need to get rid of. What time do you usually start your day?
