In 2023 there was/is a writers strike in Hollywood USA. One of the sticking points is whether the studios can use AI generated content. What are 10 thoughts that you have about this?
1. Writers are/will be using it
They're protesting because they don't want to lose their jobs, but they're also human and if humans can find an easier way to do a task, they'll do it. Writers have the advantage of knowing a good piece from a bad one, so they'll be able to get better scripts from GPT and be able to edit them better than non writers.
How will we be able to tell as viewers? Would an ai script be that different from a human script?
I've heard that AI can't do comedy. If you can write good comedy you'll still have a job.
3. Make your own content
The future seems to be less copra jobs and more individuals selling their own work. Sure they'll be a mix, but I can see a lot more kickstarter/content creator type businesses. If you're already a top writer your in a good position to team up and make unique content with others.
4. AI Video
I've been loving 'Ai President' videos (Link below). People are writing their own scripts about Obama, Joe Biden and Trump and using AI Voices to construct videos with them as voice actors. Right now you can make great audio dramas/animations before long AI will be allowing you to animate your own scenes with any actor you want.
5. Are they that talented?
A lot of scripts are the same thing (TVTropes). If writers are already having out AI based scripts, maybe they should be replaced. Could an AI write game of thrones? I doubt it (Apart from season 8. A kid with no writing experience could do better). The higher quality writers will still be sought after for the high quality shows.
