Incentives to get more people to move to Alaska

Branched from @harnessmoney. I'll tackle it from a sales perspective and try to handle objections...

    1. Education

I may be biased, but I think it's underestimated how much a community can be judged by what kinds of schools it can provide. Alaska (or any other area) wants skilled, working, tax-payers, but anyone with kids will want to know that their children will grow up to be productive, responsible members of society with opportunities and upward mobility. Show you can provide that, and the people will come.

    2. Internet

I used to work with Wireless Internet Service Providers in rural and remote communities. Good Internet is possible in Alaska, but it's not easy or something to take for granted. Most knowledge workers can do their job anywhere with a good connection. Provide that, and Alaska's other charms will draw people in.

    3. Healthcare

I watched a reality show on Netflix with British couples competing to win a remote cabin in Alaska. The winning couple's wife had MS, and being able to access healthcare (especially with US costs) was a concern. If you have a way to prove that a chronic illness isn't a death sentence in Alaska, you can be assured people will come.

    4. Small Business Loans/Grants/Incubators

Smaller Alaskan towns will be more appealing when there's a cute bakery/boutique/whatever. Tech startups need a new Mecca too.

    5. Recruiting

Jobs in energy ($$$) or the parks service (fun, nature) can appeal to people, but they might not know the path to entry.
