It's not a Smallholding, it's a Tinyholding!
1. Our farmer friend, Phil, took pity on us!
Land is scarce. Even farmers with acres and acres are not willing to share. So, our friend, Phil, has let us have the use of some of his land for our Tinyholding.
2. Quid pro quo
In exchange for the land, we're doing a lot of clearing, and also doing bits of work here and there on the farm. We will, of course, be sharing eggs and other produce with Phil.
3. Knocking it into shape
The land has been neglected so we are starting by clearing the ground, pulling down the old chicken run, renovating benches and other wooden items, clearing knee high grass, pulling up weeds and excavating paths hidden beneath it all.
4. An Eglu
When we reach the point of buying a new hen house, we're likely to get an eglu. Sufficient room for about 10-12 hens, which is all we need right now. The old hen house will be repaired and cleaned out and will become a tool shed.
5. Peak Delights
We are recording all of this on an Instagram account called Peak Delights.
