Memories from the past two years
My computer showed me a picture of me and my ex again. We broke up over a year ago. I used to immediately close the picture when my computer would show one to me, as a way to not think about her (I wasn't really in pain, but I just wanted to put the relationship completely in the past). I noticed that now, I smile instead. In a detached way, I feel grateful for the memories without any longing for what once was. It's a nice feeling.
1. Kazakhstan with my ex
What a cool trip that was. Sure, we fought badly and it should have shown us that we should actually NOT get back together (which we did shortly before the trip) and we definitely shouldn't move to Italy together (which we did shortly after - goddamn you can be such a dumbbass when you're "in love" or whatever it is), but hey, it was a cool life experience I'm grateful for.
2. Spending two months in Turkey with my ex at the beginning of our relationship
One and a half month in Istanbul. One of my regrets is not staying there longer. I have a thing for Turkey.
3. The first few weeks after I broke up with her, while enjoying Barcelona
Fresh start.
4. Moving to Padova, Italy
Why the hell did I do that? It was a completely nonsensical decision. And yet, it feels kinda nice to look back on the unpleasant, and confusing feelings. Sometimes it felt good, too.
5. Meeting one of my best friends in Padova, Italy
This alone made it worth it. I love that guy. We regularly text or call. He actually moved to Brussels (my home town) and I was there for a total of six weeks or something this year, so I got to spend a lot of time with him.
6. Bringing that girl up on my rooftop in Barcelona
Fuck yeah.
7. Volunteering as a French and English teacher's assistant (and even actual teacher!) in Yerevan for a month this year
8. Going on an adventure in Kyrgyzstan with a close friend back in May
9. Visiting Russia with my ex (her parents invited us for new year's)
Moscow and Samara. Her dad brought us to a shooting range and brought me to Stalin's bunker.
