My four abandoned SaaS business ideas

Preview

I was hesitant to post this.

Talking about failed business ideas is not one of my favourite pastimes. But I figured if I don't share my failed projects, how will people ever know how not to do things?

What I've learned is that there is no shortage of ideas out there. But turning those ideas into viable business ventures is an entirely different beast. I’ve spent countless hours brainstorming, researching, and tinkering with various concepts, only to abandon them at the research stage because of a lack of a viable market.

It’s a humbling process that has left me a bit frustrated. But amidst the struggle, a glimmer of hope and optimism keep me going. Because as difficult as it may be to come up with a winning idea, I know that each failure brings me one step closer to success.

    1. ExplainAI

AI-based explainer video generator. I wanted to generate explainer videos using text prompts and images dynamically; however, it was costly and complex to implement. Also, I didn't have the domain knowledge to execute this venture comfortably.

    2. PaperWork

An AI business document generator. After doing some business research, I found that there wasn't a massive demand for this. It turns out Microsoft and Google have implemented these right into their products with Office 365 CoPilot and Google AI features, respectively, with a beta pilot currently running with select users.

    3. Argument Bear

An AI SaaS that generates counterarguments and arguments for a specific position analyzes logical fallacies and cognitive biases in writing. It would've been helpful for people trying to prepare for the debate, a blog, or a YouTube video script - to assess potential blind spots in their arguments. Again, after doing market research and user interviews, I didn't think this was worth pursuing.

    4. Comeback Generator

Generate comebacks to insults or witty remarks. This would make a goofy side project, but I don't think there is a paying market for this.
