PolyReallyInterested

The title is a play on words for polymath. The definition of polymath talks about expertise in various subject matters. I don't claim expertise in anything but I am very curious learner in many subjects. I think an inventory of interests as follows is a good indicator of living an interesting life which I try to do. I have Twitter followers on of these subjects which I think means I'm making a positive impact in these various pockets of bird app. This sort of thing, regardless of Twitter engagement, is a worthwhile pursuit. Think about it, you're learning more and maybe helping people figure some stuff out for themselves.

    1. Investing & Capital Markets

This is my day job. I've been in the industry one way or another since I was 18, 56 now, all through college and probably till the end. I feel like I've figured some stuff out here that people can benefit from.

    2. Diet & Exercise

I've always exercised a lot. I learned about diet when I was 50. Good habits now, basically lifting weights, cutting carbs, cutting seed oils and skipping breakfast, will give you life changing benefits. Other than my face, I could probably pass for 40, I did a couple of years ago LOL. Think about it, if good habits result in you looking younger on the outside then you're probably younger on the inside. This is measurable if you want to spend the money. For me this is about longer health span, the ability to do what you want for longer. I am well past the age where bad habits start to catch up with you. I'm still able to meet the annual physical requirement to be a wildland firefighter which is certainly above average but quite a few years away from being elite. Just about any chronic malady that people take prescriptions for has the potential to be reversed. No guarantee, but potential.

    3. Firefighting

I've been the fire chief for what is now the largest volunteer fire department in Arizona for just over 10 years. I am no expert here but I have figured a few things out. I engage a little on Facebook in fire-related groups which every now and then to try to help others, I'm the chair of the small and volunteer department committee for the county chiefs association. It's a committee of one but I do think I provide a little value to the other small departments. I also provided health and wellness content for a while to the entire association and got some decent feedback there. I was president of the association for about a year and half in 2015.

    4. Hobby

Recently my childhood interest in baseball cards was rekindled. Geeky AF, but I don't care. I love baseball, it is a fun hobby, my engagement in the hobby is very cheap and I have a lot of fun engagement in baseball card Twitter. I view the cards as little pieces of art. That's a baseball card I made last summer as part of a campaign to have the Baseball Writers of America change the name of the MLB MVP trophy to honor Josh Gibson. I have 3 or 4 left, LMK if you are interested, all proceeds to the Josh Gibson Foundation.

    5. Northern AZ/Southern UT

No idea if anyone follows me for this but we live in central AZ and have spent a lot of time in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah, a lot of time. We've been to a lot of national parks, national monuments and other sorts of things like that and still have only seen a small fraction of what is there. I try to help on relevant Facebook groups when people ask questions. Short version tip, if you like hiking and amazing rock/mountain/landscapes, go to Page, AZ for two months. Within a 2 1/2 hour radius of page there's at least 100 things to see/do. Not hyperbole.

    6. The point is not "look at me," it is a nudge to take a personal inventory and to get out there and start doing stuff. Don't stop at making idea lists, actually engage, have fun, help people.
