Pondering Steve Job's quote
"It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do."
Creating an environment for smart people to tell us what to do has never been more critical. It starts by having:
1. Trust
2. Psychological safety
3. Autonomy
Autonomy is key to adaptability and responsiveness.
4. Accountability framework
Autonomy without accountability is just vacation, as Kent Beck tweeted.
5. Clear measure of success (not a measure of activities)
How much time someone has spent is a task or how many lines of code they have written is a measure of activity, not of success.
