The motion of the ship creates the wake, but the wake, in turn, doesn't control or steer the ship. Notice the relationship of how two things are interconnected but don't have a hierarchical or one-sided influence.
2. "Our past doesn't dictate the now no more than the now dictates a nonexistent past."
This moment is an opportunity for forgiveness and healing. Our past mistakes do not define our present reality, just as our present choices do not reinforce a past that no longer exists in the eternal present.
Through forgiveness, we free ourselves from the constraints of a painful past and create a more loving present moment.
