A list by @jllarson3. I think this is relevant to add. When I was in EMT school, one of the instructors said you don't learn how to be an EMT until you become an EMT. Applies to more things than just being an EMT.

2. An idea I don't like
The one about dying in a month that is going around, I don't care for that one but a big one for me would be to make sure my wife knew everything about anything related to our finances, bills, what and how to do anything related. This stuff is my domain and while I tell her everything right away, she's not very confident with this subject.
3. Reasons to volunteer
I've seen @BillBergeman and @nicolafisher talk about this. Volunteering plays a huge role in both my life and my wife's life. The right volunteering gig will fill you with purpose and change your life.
