Reading list
All the books I've read with a brief description and my recommendation if it's worth reading or not.
I've read more. I'll make more lists reviewing them in the future.
1. Small Giants
Why some companies choose to stay small. I love this book. Cater to those who love you and treat them well instead of expanding to such a stage where everyone is getting less of what makes you great. I loved this book. Highly recommend.
2. Purple Cow
If you saw a cow in a field you wouldn't care, but if it was purple you'd stop and stare. When things stand out we take notice. This book is full of examples of why standing out is important. Easy read. Highly recommend.
3. Unlimited Power
Advice on how to improve yourself. There's lots packed in here. I felt a lot was padding, the book could and should have been shorter, but the advice in it does work. I'd recommend seeking out other self help books, you'll get the same advice and won't be stuck with as much padding.
4. The 5 Love Languages
We all show love in different ways. And we all recognise love from others in different ways. When love is given, but not seen by the receiver problems occur. I liked this book, but I feel you could get the core idea by reading what the five languages are (Words of affirmation., Quality time., Physical touch., Acts of service. Receiving gifts.) and adjusting how you show love, seeking to see if others are showing love in one of these ways. If you'd like to know more check out the book, otherwise I'd pass and find something else.
5. Think and Grow Rich
A book that focuses on changing how you think. I loved this book. Even if you're not interested in starting a business this is worth reading just to improve how you think. Highly recommend.
6. The 4-hour workweek
I loved this. Again this is a book about thinking different in regards to business. This book introduced me to the 80/20 rule and that was enough for me to change how I thought and acted on most things. Work got easier, I became less stressed and I had more free time to work on my own projects. Highly recommend.
7. How to win friends and influence people
This should be required reading in high schools. If everyone was aware of the lessons in the book the world would be a much better place. Even if you have plenty of friends this is still worth reading. I put this off because I felt I had more than enough friends, but I learned a lot from this for example people love hearing their name. Use their name whenever you can and they'll like you a lot more. Highly recommend, great book.
8. Anything you want
We need more books like this short, sweet and to the point. No filler just great bits of advice. Don't let the size put you off. This book is filled with nothing but good advice. Highly recommend.
9. Steal Like an artist
Very nicely designed book. Each page is it's own work of art. I loved the advice in this. Nothing is unique we borrow and combine ideas from the past. Aiming to be unique is a losing battle, aiming to combine great things is how you create great art. If you're a creator I highly recommend this book.
10. How to fail at almost everything and still win big
One of my favourite books. Full of great advice on how to improve multiple aspects of your life. If you're looking to improve your life I highly recommend starting here, amazing book.
11. Choose Yourself
Full of advice on how to improve multiple aspects of your life. This book shows you how it's easier than ever to become your own boss and make a living using the internet. Chances are everyone on here has already read this, but if not this is James book, highly recommend.
