See Beyond the Surface.

    1. Our perception is not like a camera.

    We don't take a picture of a pre-existing world.
A pre-existing world doesn't exist. Shocking to most.
We experience the world as we deduce or conclude (information) from evidence and reasoning rather than experiencing the world exactly as it is.

    2. More than 50 percent of the cortex, the surface of the brain, is devoted to processing visual perception.

That's a lot of processing power used in taking a picture.
Perception is an active constructive process whereby we construct the depths, shapes, colors, motions, and textures we see.
We're doing all of this at breakneck speed.
It only takes about 100 milliseconds once our eyes are open.

    3. We have the mistaken belief that the world we now see was there all along.

Why? Because it happens so quickly.
We're so good at this we actually fool ourselves into believing we're seeing the world as it really is.
What we're actually seeing is the world as we construct it, not as it really is.
If you doubt any of this just do some research on cognitive neuroscience and you can prove this to yourself.
    There is no objective world.
The world we see is always a perfect match (just like a mirror) to how and what we think. There are no exceptions to this.
Are you delighted? If we're the ones who are creating our world then we're the only ones who have the ability to change it.
We can project onto others what we refuse to look at in ourselves but you'll lose at that game every time. Go ahead and try it....I'll wait.
If you left your house today, how do you know that your house is still there?
An oldie but goodie: If a tree falls in the forest but no one is there to see or hear it fall, did it really fall?
