Seeking advice: Overcoming the Comfort Zone in Productivity
Great wisdom has already been shared. I agree with everything that has been shared.
Overcoming comfort zone is not an option anymore. In this fast-paced, connected, and uncertain world, adaptability is key to surviving and thriving.
Adaptability means embracing ambiguity & discomfort. My two cents:
1. Learn to enjoy discomfort
Growth is painful.
“A person's success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have.” Tim Ferris
2. Be open to outcomes but do not attach to them
This is easily said than done, but it is important.
3. Be sane -> Embrace discomfort
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.” – Leonardo DiCaprio
4. Create your WHY, your purpose
You do not find your WHY. You create it. It may change as you evolve, but you need to have a WHY.
5. Define your future self
Your future self would certainly not want you to be in stasis. Otherwise, you will not be your future self.
6. Minimum Standard of Excellence
Keep raising the floor of your MSE. As you evolve, your standards should change. Keep raising the floor or the bars to align with your future self.
7. Gain over Gap
Celebrate the gains.
In Gap thinking, you think about the distance between where you are and where you want to be (or have) in the future.
A Gain thinking approach focuses on your progress and what you have already accomplished.
8. Moonshot goals
Have bold or 10X goals. Shoot for the moon :)
