Some of my favourite art

Inspired by a list from @younes.

    1. Seaport with the Embarkation of Saint Ursula - Claude Lorrain

When I lived in London I would pop into the National Gallery whenever I could. I would head to the Claude gallery and try to decide which was my favourite painting. It changed on a weekly basis but it was always Claude.

    2. The Kiss - Gustav Klimt

I have a lovely print of this on the wall. A gift from my Mum and Dad.

    3. In Manus Tuas - Briton Riviere

This is in the Manchester Art Gallery and became my go to painting. As I did in London, I would pop into the art gallery and head for the room where this painting hung on the wall. I would sit and gaze at it. Features would start to pop out at you the longer you looked.

    4. The Fighting Temeraire - JMW Turner

Turner was a Claude fan. I read somewhere that there was a clause in his will that his paintings had to be hung in the same room as the Claudes, or at least close by. I used to check that the gallery was upholding their part of the bargain!

    5. Croagh Patrick from Achill - Norman Ackroyd

I watched a documentary about Norman Ackroyd (see below) and was very taken with his work and his process.
